Lou Corben

Theatre Director

I'm a Northern, neurodivergent working-class Queer theatre director, based in Merseyside, and sometimes London. I'm Artistic Director of Marvellous Machine Theatre Company. My work has been described as “plush and captivating”, “atmospheric, beautifully choreographed”, “Gaspingly good”, and “Witty, inspiring, moving, musically smashing".

My work centres the stories of women and the Queer community and often blends poetic writing, music, and movement.

I've recently completed courses and training in Directing with prestigious directors including Emma Rice, Robert Icke, Lyndsey Turner, and Rebecca Frecknall.

Alongside Directing Marvellous Machine Theatre Company, I work as a freelance producer, director, and administrator on a variety of projects including festivals, carnivals, parades and theatre productions.

“I’m uplifted by the whole experience – buzzing in fact!

“Words, words would not have enough impact to explain how incredible the performance was”
